Congratulations to the Warrnambool East Primary School Student Community Leaders!
Their idea to spread positive metal health messages throughout the CBD received the most votes at Beers and Ideas Round 4. They will spend the $1,250 raised on the door, plus $1,250 in matched council funding to design, produce, manage and install a series of posters, banners and signs in our public spaces (shop frontages, public toilet doors, roundabouts etc), and in their school, to promote positive wellbeing and mindsets. The WEPS Students dream would be to hold a White Night in Warrnambool to spread happiness around the community.
We had 132 people attend another fabulous event at a near capacity The Loft. Not bad for a Thursday night! The 3 ideas presented were very well received and all achievable with some community support we think.
Xavier Lane presented his idea for a movable communal table tennis table, which would start at the civic green and encourage participation of all ages, cultures and genders.
Sheridan Buscombe presented her idea for a soundtrack featuring music from south-west artist to be played through the CBD. Her idea would start in Liebig Lane, where the current speaker plays an easy-listening, mostly American playlist. More speakers could be installed throughout the laneways to play a local city soundtrack.
We also had a very informative Q & A with Port Fairy Winter Weekends Coordinator Loren Tuck and Treasurer Harry Bracegirdle. We'll write up a summary of this discussion soon.
Thank you SO much to our wonderful presenters, Loren and Harry from PFWW, The Loft for kindly hosting and co-sponsoring the event, Warrnambool City council for sponsoring the event and Helen, Shaun and Mairead from WCC for their endless help, Jordan Small and Sheila Murphy for being legends, and to YOU for loving and supporting this project.
